Will an VK45DE variable intake manifold bolt onto a VK56DE, the electronics can be worked out after.

Will an VK45DE crank pulley fit the VK56DE and what is the radius

Thank you

Any good news yet. Thank you, I know this is not easy without having your hands on them it is not something that can be looked up in a book. It will be grate if they do.

Well i was hoping a couple of our titan owners would see this, but either they didnt or they dont know the asnwer...

But let me ask, why do you want to use some the VK45 stuff on the 56?

If you think it would help, i can post engine diagrams for the VK45 and VK56

I cannot give you a definitive answer but based on the diagrams in the service manuals for the VK45 and the VK56 I am pretty sure the manifold bolt pattern is the same.

The crank pulley will probably fit but as you might know the two engines have different belt arrangements. The VK45 has 2 belts and the VK56 has 1.

The VK56DE is based on the VK45DE so that means there should be quite a few interchangeable parts between them.

The only way you will find out for sure is to get the parts and try them.

What is the project that you are working on?

I’m just thinking out loud, If the vk45 crank pulley is up to 20% smaller than the vk56 and it will fit on a vk56 crank then it can be use as an underdrive pulley (inside belt) and maybe good for 10 hp. Now as far as the intake manifold, it maybe use as a manually tune intake to the RPM range desired and / or a programmable electronic control module can be made to monitor the RPM and adjust the intake runners for more hp. I would like to give this a try if you can help me in getting my hands on these parts to test my theory. I will be forever in your debt.

Thank you,

The cheapest way that I can think of to get the parts is either through Ebay or car-part.com.

The question is availability.

Of course, the dealer would be happy to sell you stuff. Try Infiniti of Scottsdale for discount pricing.

Underdrive pullies cannot free up 10 HP unless the accessories consume 3-4 times that amount! The AC compressor has a clutch so little in the free wheeling mode.

Alternator has a max of 4.5, power steering the same when fully loaded at a low speed, fan maybe the same at high rpms.........add all that up and at worst you might get 15 HP. A 20% underdrive might save 3-4 HP.

There is a reason the pully ratios are selected as they are and changing them may have serious downsides in cooling , alternator output, cold power steering as the systems age.

Thank you thats good info on the crank pulley

Now will a VK45DE variable intake manifold bolt onto a VK56DE?
