Unfortunately Nissan already did the upgrade for you when they brought the 4.5 liter engine back after the 6 year hiatus.

The orginal 90-96 engine peaked at 280 HP and ~~300lb/ft of torque.OBD2 ecu allowed them to remove most of safety reserve and a few tweeks got them to the 330 range in both HP and torque.

Not much safety left to stretch further considering the dismal sate of US gasoline quality.

Why they will be coming out with a new 5.0 liter engine for cars.

No brand seems to be doing better in the 4.4-4.6 displacement range while still meeting emissions.

Generally 75lb/ft per liter is the limit for pump gas without direct injection.
