hey guys i'm new here. i'm not extremely knowledgeable about cars so i thought i would look for some advice.

i am not a nissan owner yet, but will be looking to buy an altima or an altima coupe in the next couple of weeks. i test drove an altima 2.5 sedan and an altima 3.5 coupe, and in most aspects loved the coupe; i thought the sporty seats, exterior styling, engine of course with the 3.5, almost everything about it was better than the altima sedan. but the only thing holding me back is i noticed there's a big blindspot on the left. i'm used to looking over my left shoulder to change lanes, merge onto the freeway, etc, and am not used to trusting my mirrors.

for all of you owners of the coupe, is this a major issue in your opinion? do you just get used to trusting the mirrors? any words of wisdom here? thanks!

ive actually never driven manual, i always figured i'd be a bit too lazy to drive one. i was impressed with the smoothness of the cvt though.

i usually do a lean to the left to look at blind spots on the right mirror and do a lean right for the left =P. but i just bought some of those round mirrors you can get at O'rielys or walmart or whatevers and it's alot better for me.

I have my seat leaned back like i'm gangsta so when I go to look out the rear window I on the driver's side I can see fine. Then I check my mirrors and rear view.

I've only ever once almost hit someone else but honestly I did not see them. They were driving in my blind spot for about 2-3 minutes unnoticed. Ever since then I check 5000 times before switching lanes in the coupe. Kinda used to it as well since my Neon was a 2 door. That was even worse.

I just changed my mirrors to point out more, that took care of the problem for the most part. when i go to change lanes i check all my mirrors first and then give a quick look, spending too much time looking is dangerous if you have someone in front of you. I've had no problems with blind spots by doing this. then again, if you buy any coupe you will almost always have that kind of blind spot. but you will get used to it. it's just what you really want in a car that decides it. good luck

i just do the chicago shuffle. put the blinker on for 3-4 clicks and hope no idiot is in my way and merge. there is a huge blind spot. if you are a big guy like me, you will notice that if you have a passenger in the car and they dont lean their seat back as far as you do, you cant s*** $hit. lol the only window i can see out of with no problems happens to be the wind shield.

Blind spots are no big problem, they are there but got used to them . As far as turn signals ,if I'm switching lanes I'm a 1 click guy.

hey, as for the blindspot. i ALWAYS look over my left shoulder to see if there are any cars coming. u can see out the small window if there is a car there or not, and with the use of the mirrors. you are set!

i got into the habbit of looking out my side window instaed of over my shoulder trying to look out the back window, if you can call that tiny thing a window. so instead of shoulder checking, i lean forward and look out the side and back. i also have a round mirror on my side mirror and have the mirror pointed outwards more so it cuts down on blind spots, no problems so far. i'd have to say though, the altima coupe and i assume the G coupes have the worst blind spots
