I have recieved my hood and they recommand that I use hood pins. I dont want to use pins because It kinda looks gay. But It still can work with the oem hood system that the car came with. I was also thinking about using hood latch, nice clean look. Thenn I wanted to use hood damper like the one from stillen but I havent seen anyone with an aftermarket hood do that. Any suggestions?

it depends on how much faith you have in the latch. i believe the reason most people get hood pins is to prevent the latch from ripping off the hood and having your hood fly open while you're driving. look around, dangeris and another used aerocatch hood pins, they look much nicer than traditional hood pins

Hood pins...use 'em. If you think they look gay (which, really...they usually do on a daily driver...), then consider the AeroCatch flush mount ones like Blackmobile suggested. Dangeris has them, and I've got them. They're considerably more expensive than the competition, but look so much better! I'd also suggest dropping an extra $20 and getting the locking version like I have. On top of that, you should probably also consider the extra $60 or so for the PasswordJDM mounting plates...my hood is secure now. At speeds over 100km/h you can clearly see the hood wobbling...now I have no fear that it's going to come flying up at my windshield!

hey ESP, i love the carbon fiber hood on your car. I was thinking about getting it for mine, but since my car is precision grey, i think it would look out of place, in my opinion, but i never seen a precision grey with the hood.

about the aerocatch pins. how much did it cost you in total because if i get the hood, thats what i want to secure it down

Thanks man!

IIRC, the hood latches themselves were about $110-120. The Password:JDM mounting plates were an additional $60 or so... Just google it and you'll find it easily enough. I'd strongly recommend getting the mounting plates...otherwise your hood is being held in place by the heads of six tiny screws! When you're dealing with your safety, it's best to pay for quality rather than cheap out and have to replace your hood/windshield/entire car should the damn thing flip up on the highway.

BTW, I guarantee you'll sh*t bricks when you're installing the AeroCatch latches. With traditional hood pins, you're pretty much just drilling a small hole (enough for the pin to fit through). With the AeroCatch system, you've got to cut out an entire section to fit and flush mount the mechanism. It's not hard to do...just terrifying to cut into your brand new CF hood!

Yup, I'll be there!

...and no, I don't have hood dampers. Not too sure if they'll work with my hood...don't see why they wouldn't though.

LOL! I'm just using the stock hood prop for now. I might pick up a set of dampers while I'm down there though... I don't like the way the hood bends when I've got it propped up using that thing.

I have the dampers and they work just fine.
