Hood vents. How do they prevent water from getting in to your engine when its rain?

They don't...but then again, some cars don't have a roof.

I am thinking getting the hood.. but should I get one without the vents or with vents

Uhhh, I'd say go for the vents, because you could always fill them in later, and have non funtional scoops if you do encounter any water problems, I've heard on 240sx that you can fry some electrical components with the water pouring in... but it all depends on where the vents/scoops are in relation to the intake etc.
