thanks guy, V-mount works great while on track, temps stay low at all times even in extreme outside temps. The tires i was running once i decided the Falkens were done were Hoosier RSO4's 225/50R16.need4gforce wrote:Whatsup man? Your car is sweat bro... V mount looks great.. What tires where you running in those pics??? I cannot wait to get myne setup...Grip racing is so fun... Ive been dogging myne on the mountain roads here in Fauquier/Warrenton va its on your way to VIR if your taking 66....You should roll threw next time your out take exit 28 off of 66 and turn left its a real good touge road.....
I agree. VIR is like a smooth one way country road with no cops, plus you can find your top speed on the back straight.sr20goofus wrote:

i trailor my car to the tracks, so i wont be stopping off anywhere to put i non a backroad, sorry. You shoudl egt out to the track with your car, anyback road is fun, but you have no idea how much more capable you are in a controlled environtment like a track. I used to be all over teh back roads also but i wasnt even moving incomparison to how quick i move now.
Yeah, usually the full course. Though I've done the north course a couple times, which is fun too. I try to do VIR twice a year. Audi has the full course rented the weekend before Thanksgiving if you're interested.nismofly wrote:do you normally run the full course (dont know what the proper name is) when you run there?
id like to hit up VIR asap, hopefully next summer
nice pics btw...
Yep, 10/13-15. That would be great. I know I'm on Shenandoah the 13th and 15th. but the 14th could be either Jefferson or Shenandoah, depending on student assignments.sr20goofus wrote:ive done VIR Full 2 times and VIR grand once....grand is the best combination of tight turns and quick minuvering and high speeds in other areas.
I know there is an Audi event the same time at Summit Point while im with NASA on the Main course, so you should stop over or ill try to stop over and say hi.....its mid october i think...
I do Summit Point every year, usually the main track. It's a great place for HPDE's. I'll probably create a thread for the October audi HPDE if you're interested. They don't require Audi'scorey240 wrote:have you guys been to sumit point? i was so excited to guy do the time attack and training class hpdes? hankook rs2 or kuhmo mx, they have good enough track wear characteristics, and theyre still good beginner tires becuase they dont have *too much* gripcorey240 wrote:have the Hoosiers wore much yet? i hear they wear down fast. what tire would you recomend for a set of track wheels that have good grip but last long for a not so expensive price, basicaly im asking what tire do you think would be good for a beginner with a kinda low budget that wont wear too fast.
i know youve mentioned it several times, but i found out its on a thurs-fri and not the weekend...and i cant skip school to drive to WV for a track sessionBubba1 wrote:Yeah, usually the full course. I'm also doing 3 days at Summit Point in October. Mostly the Shenandoah circuit, but I might get some seat time on the Jefferson circuit too.Should be fun
i personally only run the Hoosiers because i got a great deal on a set of 5, and being that i am poor i am going to use them for one more weekend event, then i will trash them. They dont wear too fast in my opinion but once i start pushing the car harder and get a stiffer suspension i msure they will wear MUCH faster.nismofly wrote:

ill be running the hankooks probably through HPDE 1, then ill run RT615's in 2, r-comps of some sort in 3 (probably toyo RA-1's), and slicks (hoosiers or kuhmo victoracers) in 4
a car doesnt haev to be track ready, especially if you are a beginner, take what ya got out there and tean how to use it, i started off with some decent power for a beginner, but a reletively simple setup, nothing much has changed performance wise with my car to this day.nismofly wrote:unfortunately i think i may be out of luck for this year, my car wont be track ready until after the sat-sun events end, and theres only weekday events left
i dont know how audi club works it, but maybe i could even get you as an instructor
oh trust me i know, thats not what i was referring to by "track ready"sr20goofus wrote:a car doesnt haev to be track ready, especially if you are a beginner, take what ya got out there and tean how to use it, i started off with some decent power for a beginner, but a reletively simple setup, nothing much has changed performance wise with my car to this day.
hes an audi club instructor, thats why i mentioned itsr20goofus wrote:And instructors are only specifically approved people by the club or other associations that are well experienced and properly trained. I've been instructing for Audi for several years. I did open wheel with SKip Barber prior to Audi. I have students that request me, (usually among the more experienced as I'm already familiar with them, and they with me) but the final decision belongs to the eventmaster. I also don't think upgrading the tires is really necessary for a first timer. Heck I used to run all season radials in my 240sx. They got greasy quickly, which made for an entertaining drive. .sr20goofus wrote:

I would recomment Falken 615's for beginners, they are a great tire, i would run a 245 all around if i could afford them, they are cheap, but the hoosiers i got were WAY cheaper. Good heat conatinment, slow wear and great grip once they get to temperature (if you run the right pressures).

That's cool that there's two schools going on at the same time/same place. NASA's on SP's main track both days. Audi has the Jefferson Circuit, skidpad , and the Shenandoah circuit. Always a fun time at SP no matter which event or circuit you do...sr20goofus wrote:or you can do tha NASA event http://www.nasaracing.net/Summit_Oct_06/event.htm
its $310 for the 14th-15th. you can camp out at Summit POint as well and save the money from stayin in a hotel....
Yeah, I'm psyched it's coming up so quickly. I hope to see you there. Here's my car. It's very much stock.sr20goofus wrote:well bubba its about2 anda half weeks away, i hope to see you there, hopefull car will be up and running with my EMS, otherwise itll be all stock tune.
Post a pic of your car as i would see it there for reference so i can make a possible trip over there, or vise versa...
stock is ok....HPDE are for learning not for racing.....Bubba1 wrote:Yeah, I'm psyched it's coming up so quickly. I hope to see you there. Here's my car. It's very much stock.
