I've been looking to get another alarm. But I can't decide which one I should get. I don't know that much about them, just what I read.

It's between the Viper 5901 http://viper.com/ShopViperProd...5702Vand the Clifford Matrix 50.5X http://clifford.com/Products/P...D=701

My brother has had the Clifford one before. He suggests that it is the better one because it shows the actual car instead of a LOCK icon, and you can see which alarm was set off. Me personally, I just like have the newer stuff. lol Which is why I can't decide. So what are your guys input on these 2 models? Is showing the actual car on the screen better than a icon?

DEI electronics owns both companies. Just get the alarm with the features you like. Both will have similar if not exactly the same components. (I did not look at the links but again same company.)

Im not an alarm guru, but if you are getting a high end alarm, the clifford one seems better IMO.

I also like that big red dog so i may be bias!

does showing the actual car vs a lock icon matter really?

No, but knowing you're protected by the big red dog does

hey, I'm the OP... and I still haven't gotten an alarm yet... so I thought I'd reply back in this to see if anyone had anymore insight on these 2 models, along with the Clifford Matrix 50.7X.... I couldn't really find that many reviews on it... I've read some people have had problems with the Viper model, but the rest have said it's fine. If I remember correctly those two are almost if not the exact same model just different casing, but I'm still curious as to which would be better with our cars.

And are there any other models I should check out?

Any insight is greatly appreciated... =)

what's OP stand for?

I'm thinking of getting 5901 as well since it looks better than clifford. Both are under DEI so you can't go wrong.

Also thinking of getting remote starter for 6-sp stick as well. Some shops won't do it since they don't want to be reliable if you remote start the car while in gear. But a few shops will do them.

I have the 5900 and seems to be fine, although the battery on the remote lasts about 4 weeks. But 5901 has different remote so it's probably not an issue.

Looks like though 50.7X Clifford can tell you the temperature of the cabin? This would be great and I know my buddy got his tied up to the A/C so the AC can come on in the summer, or heat when he warms up the car. I don't think his was a Clifford nor Viper.
