Don't hold your breath!fadij wrote:and we're getting this product in the next few weeks
LOL... well if it's already available to you, then why don't you have any? Best Buy has an exclusive on it for 60 days. The original thought was that they were only going to have an exclusive for 30 days.... so all the Viper reps told their dealers 30 days. A couple days later an official report from Viper states: 60 days and that we should have them by Christmas. So like I said, don't hold your breath to have them by November. I have been a Viper dealer for 16 years.... I know how they operate.fadij wrote:lol its already available... so i will hold my breath.

Actually, Viper had the cell phone thing over 10 years ago. And Audiovox has had it for several years. However, those and the one you are referring to, you had to dial a number, then enter your pass code, then choose a feature etc...... royal pain in the butt. Hopefully this should work nice and smooth. We'll see once some of our customers get them out in the field.rjdmmfl1 wrote:Autopage has had a similar feature available for over a year now... it can be controlled via cell phone, but it wasn't done through an iphone app...
let's hope Directed Electronics worked the bugs out of this one better than they did their last few remote start alarm systems...
the had to recall an entire line of alarms due to poor shielding and horrible interference...
Haven't been a fan of Directed's products for the last couple of years... their earlier stuff was much more reliable before they started gettign too fancy... sems like the fancier they got, the more problems they started having
The Smart Start is not a remote starter. It has to be added to one of the new generation DEI starters. So yes, you have to have your I-Key to do ignition takeover when entering the vehicle after being remote started.anthonyle2002 wrote:Wait, if it can start your car and unlock it, do we need the I-Key?
Heck, around here sales reps come and go like herpes.fadij wrote:well i dont know whos your sales rep out there in Normal IL but out here in LA my rep lets us in sales use it exclusively (not sell as of yet)...and i said in a few weeks because its a little closer to the deadline.....for someone thats doing this for 16 years, you should get better reps.
Yeah, they definitely had the issues with the remote losing pairing on the 5101's. That has been fixed and I haven't really noticed any more issues. The 591XV and 5900 were mostly remote issues. The remote would just die completely. Actually, almost all DEI failures are the remotes in one way or another. It's very rare that there is something wrong with the brain on any system... even before remote starters existed.rjdmmfl1 wrote:The Viper 7900 was garbage, and had to be recalled
The Viper 5701's main problem I saw was poor response with the brain.. I saw at least 5 customers come in (some had alarms installed at this shop, some had them installed at other shops and didn't want to go back) and standing NEXT to their cars, they couldn't get the car to disarm or arm...
I'm not familiar with the latest on the 5901 and 5902, but if you say they work better than i guess I'll take your word for it... but by no means have Viper's recent products been the "most reliable to date"... the 591XV has withstood the test of time, you can't make a claim of being most reliable to date if they have only been out for a couple of months... give em a few years before they get put on that throne
I'm not saying that autopage is perfect either, they've had a number of issues with their C3 system draining batteries, and they are already on the third released version of the RS-1000 remote due to a number of issues
my point, for those reading this that aren't knowledgeable in aftermarket alarms is DO NOT jump on an alarm product as soon as its released... wait a little while, and check the internet for issues with these units before you go out and buy it... the 1st customers as of late have been "extended beta testers"!
well that explains a lot... as I stated earlier... the fancier they got with their remotes, the more problems they began to have... same thing with autopage... the RS-900 and RS-1000 use the same exact brain, just two different remotes... and its the RS-1000 OLED remote that continued to lose pairing with the alarms...Broadfield wrote:

I was simply saying that a release date is one thing, but them holding true to it is another.... that's all. Then you said they were available, so I assumed you were mistaken or that you worked at Best Buy.

Yes, I have installed probably a dozen of them. Works flawlessly every time. They also just released the 2-way alarm trigger feedback. I don't have any feedback on that portion yet. Let me know if you need any pricing on product. You can check my sig for product.bembol wrote:So any NICO installed this?
I think I need to get an Alarm/Starter, there marks on my driver side window and the passenger side moulding.
I'm looking for Reviews and if there are any issues with the Intelligent Key/Fob. Thanks.
I replied to your PM.jf2oo6 wrote:Just wanted to bring this thread back to life. I am looking into getting a Smartstart for my car, and some info on it would be great. Broadfield have you ran into any problems with these yet? Is the install very complicated? Does the kit come with everything you need?
Sorry for all the questions but I dont want to have a lot of problems from remote start like a lot of other altimas.
1) Yes, the car shuts off if you hit the brake... unless of course you hit the push-to-start button twice.nismogxs21 wrote:so my main thing is...
does this auto start system work fine with our push start cars??? as in does:
1) the car shut off if i press the brake??
2) do i need the key fob
3) does it work fine w/o the iphone app
4) is it a difficult install that can easily go wrong?
5) would it come with a 2-way pager if i dont want the app
some of these questions may have been addressed already but i jus did a quick skim...
