I'm doing my first car alarm install ever. It is going on my 1990 240sx. I think I've got everything wired up properly, but the remote start feature will not work. When I hit the button it acts like it is going to start (the lights blink and whatnot, accessories come on, etc), but then it doesn't start.

I'm pretty confident that this is because of the clutch pedal switch. The pedal has to be pressing a button (clutch engaged) before the starter will get power I assume.

I'm not really sure how to bypass it though? I tried testing the wire with a multimeter with the button engaged and not engaged, but there is never any power.

Oh yeah, through searching I found that there is another pedal sensor at the top of the pedal? Could it be that this button has to be disengaged before the other button will engage?

Any ideas how to bypass this?

Thanks!

I believe the only time that button should see current is when it is pushed-in and when you are trying to start the car. For a quick fix bypass, you can either rig something so it is pushed in all the time, or just splice the wires so they are always connected. I have never noticed another button before, are you sure it is not just a bumper or something? As a general warning, if you bypass this and leave your car in gear and try to remotely start it, your car may jump forward/backward.

edit: lol, did see you get it workin, good job!

Thank you for the warning. I was a bit afraid at first that I may forget and leave it in gear, but I will be using the built in turbo timer every time I park my car becuase otherwise I'd be sitting in it while it idles anyway. When I use the turbo timer I have to leave it in neutral and pull the ebrake. So since I will be using the timer every time I park the car I will never have to worry about remote starting the vehicle in gear ...
