So I bought this package on sale with Bestbuy ($229.99) and it came with all the goodies to install. I called and they said it would be an extra $100 because the M is a b**** to work on. Dropped off my car last Friday morning and they said 4 hours would be good... all of a sudden 8 hours go by. I called and they explained that they do not typically accept M's and other Infiniti's because they are too complicated. Long story short they did not finish until Saturday around 6PM. The guy there said he has been doing installs for 15+ years and this was one of the worse he has ever seen (claims it took him over 10 hours?). Anyways, I of course asked to have the $100 fee waived because of the wait and the manager gladly said yes sir. Been using it for a few days now up in RI and it is the best. I can start my car from my desk at work and I park a good ways away. Totally impressed with the range and the fact it goes right through a building! I get confirmation that it starts and I get confirmation that it has turned back off.

Keep your eyes peeled on dealcatcher.com as I have been seeing bestbuy post these car starters with install and free hardware every couple of weeks. I'll post back if I have any issues in the future.

My experience in reading people's experience with these installs, is if the installer had that much difficulty, they ended up screwing something up that made an appearance right away, or down the line. I would suggest you pull your inside down and see how they wired things up (not scientific, but if its a mess or not will let you know the care they took and if you should be concerned). What I personally would do is have the instructions of the install with me and see if they actually wired everything to the proper points. That way you get an easy crash course on the install as well. Believe it or not, they could wire it up incorrectly and it can temporarily work, and then screw up later. I hope you have a warranty. Anyway, this was just an fyi out of concern. But glad everything is working for you, good luck.

I'm in South Florida so there is really no need for remote starting as temps rarely dip below 70 degrees and the car cools very quickly in higher temps thanks to my windscreen cover and tinted windows. However, if I were to get one installed, I'd buy the one from Infiniti prepare to have Infinti install it for what I'm sure is the highest price around. I've heard horror stories related to the wiring harness that doesn't show up until months after the install. I'm thinking that if Infinit does the install, they may cover any damages it causes.

I don't think the dealer would want to install this, unless there was a factory option designed for dealers to install, like the $900 dealer installed remote start that Honda sells. If there was a remote start that automatically puts the climate control to 72 degrees (perfect for hot and cold weather) I'd be interested in that.

I have the viper kit as well. They told me 4 hours to install but it took 3 days. It's not all their fault because I did request a not so typical setup. In the end everything works great. If I need some work done to my car I just park my car in front of the building and throw my key inside and lock it it with my phone. Then I'll call the place in the morning and unlock the door for them. One of the best things I've done to my car.... So far:)

agreed, only pain in the arse in me pushing the button by accident in my pocket and having the unit make noises... What other features did you have them add?

Car is locked, I push the start button and it starts, I hop in and have to push the ignition button two times and then it's like I was there the whole time. If I hop in and press the brake to put the car in drive without pushing the button two times it just shuts off. I also experimented with having the car started, throwing the fob on the seat, locking it, and closing the door (I of course had my window down just in case it failed :-D). The same thing as usual happens (buzzer goes off and doors unlock).
