What's up nico club. Its been a while since I have been on here, so I thought I would get updated pics. I was tossing some paint ideas around when I came across a killer deal on some vinyl. I wasn't to crazy about the color until I saw it finished. It took me and my buddy a week, working on it about 3 hours each night. Hope you like it. :)

Thanks guys. Enough vinyl to do a whole car can be anywhere from $600-$1000. I had a 60" wide by 75ft long roll and had plenty. Anyone can order it off the Internet or a company named Fellers is who we order from at the shop. I used 3m scotchprint. Wash it like you would paint. There's was only 2 of us so there are no pictures of it actually being put on, but we did it in my garage.

User PHENOMenal Vinyl on here sells vinyl at special rates for NICO. If you're in the area, he also does installs. Stuff I've seen from him looks legit.

The wrap job itself looks great, but that nose panel, headlight alignment is bringing the whole overall look of the car down imo.

I know that little droop in the middle of the nose panel, if that's what your talking about, there is nothing I can do about it. I had to get a new hood too since I cut a big whole in my old one when I did the smallblock, that may have something to do with it too but don't think so. I'm just dealing with it, If you know how to fix it let me know. :)

Wow, that looks absolutely seamless! Great job.
I'm about halfway done doing mine in Matte Black.
That 3M 1080 stuff is surprisingly easy to work with but I hope to get half as good results as yours.

The Unicorn Z muddied my outlook on vinyl, but you did a great job proving how good a proper vinyl job can look! Awesome color choice as well. Any close-up pictures of complex areas like the sideview mirrors? I'm interested to see how it looks up-close.

that is crazy awesome! i have been thinking on doing that for the longest time since my car has such a paint job, if you look close enough, it is 2 different shades of white... :chuckle: i am not crazy about the color, but god it looks so clean.

but i have always heard that is not that durable? that it stars peeling off and such? i would love for you to keep update on how it holds up.

i think after i sort the mechanical issues with my car, i will just wrap it in flat black.

looks great. this maybe a dumb question... but did you remove each body panel to wrap it? you should do a do a write up to get free NICO shwag!

when i first read the title i thought the unicorn was back!

Thanks for the close-ups. Pretty hard to spot any flaws - you guys did a really nice job and it definitely shows. I think a lot of people might consider vinyl wrapping after seeing this :)

HOLY EFFING WIN.

GREAT work. I have a swatch of that color vinyl from 3M, it's a great-looking blue in person.

Keep it out of the sun, as the metallic films actually have REAL metal in them, and you know what happens to metal in the heat... although, in MO, you probably don't have that issue like we do in AZ. Our metallic vinyls oxidize and fail after a year or two.

EDIT: I bet that nose panel could be fixed pretty easily with some plastic epoxy, a length of aluminum angle (to support it & keep it straight), and a handful of small C-clamps to hold it while the epoxy cures.

Thanks guys. There are a few minor flaws, but nothing to really bug me, and I do have plenty of vinyl left over for when i want to fix it. I did pull everything but the rear bumper off before wrapping. I did pull the nose panel back off and the bracket is pretty flimsy, I have some 8th inch sheet metel I will cut a new one and hopefully get rid of that damn droop.
The heat here in missouri does not get to bad in the summer, 106*f is the hottest it got last summer I think. I have been having an issue with the 30* weather and have a few spots that want to shrink real bad, but a little heat will fix it, just need to run a sealer on the seams, I have about 90% of it sealed. But she has been staying in the garage, so I shouldent have to much of an issue with it getting real weathered.

Heres a few daytime/nighttime comparison photos

plasti dip also sounds like a good alternative, and supposedly for a good size car is about 350 bucks, which sounds amazing, and does not look too far from wrapping.

Id be a little hesitant to do this because once it starts to peel, it wont stop. 5-6 coats is a lot of rattle cans but you can choose any color. If your on a budget, Id say go for it just for sh!ts and gigs!

Wow utterly amazing man!! Just stunned at how well it went on for you, excellent job by far. Loving the night look on it, has more of a shimmer I find but both are still great!!

they sell it by the gallon. 45 bucks i believe.

the good thing is that they do sell a thinner that for example if it starts peeling or scratches, you put the thinner over, respray and voila! i have read that it blends pretty good too.

How is wrapping the bottom of the car with the texture? Do you just need to heat it til it conforms?

Thanks

Thanks. I like that better than the cover on mine, and most of the aftermarket bumper covers I've seen.

Mine is messed up (hence the bra) and I want to get a new one when I get to the body work.
