alot of people did this but i am not really willing to commit to ANYTHING that I cant see a real world finished product of anymore, way too many disappointments =( (I dont think anyone on these forums has painted their ENTIRE headlamp with a 'smoke' layer)sc_coupe wrote:i believe it was Rob.Vegan that painted his headlights...im pretty sure it was him

Well, if you say the install was sloppy to begin with, maybe there was some moisture still underneath the vinyl. Gotta make sure all the moisture is taken out from underneath. Also, the appearance may differ from car to car depending on the housing finish and the amber portion of the headlight, which is huge on the coupe! That also may be causing the variation iin the tint. Maybe try my GTR Headlight Overlay which leaves the area of your main lamps open so no light is affected by the overlay, just a thought bud .RobPaulson wrote:so . . . i am still obsessing a bit about wanting headlights that look like this (see image below, formatting nicer this way =P )
I know this guy lightwerkz did it, but I have absolutely no interest in having him do this. sounded way too expensive and came off like kind of a jerk from what i read =/ anyway...
Problems with current Vinyl headlight overlays:
1. THE COLOR! I tried 3/10 smoke overlays, but they came out with an almost brown tint to them, maybe its the orange from the light itself thats making it seem off-color to me, but it does NOT look like it is just straight tinted black. Could this have been caused by a dirty install environment (I had them installed by the guy who did my tints, even when i first saw them they looked sloppy =/ )??
2. Cloudy. The vinyl made the plastic of the headlamp look somewhat cloudy, so you can see the beam from my HID's hit the plastic cover of the headlamp. Which looks like CRAP IMO. I want my crystal clear headlights back =( Once again, could this just be a dirty install environment? Or is this just how the vinyls look when they're done?
So what I am getting at here is, - Do others with FULL HEADLAMP OVERLAYS experience a 'cloudy' effect?- Do others with FULL HEADLAMP SMOKE OVERLAYS look like a BLACK tint, or off-black (like off-white . . . but not really) color? Or did i just get a crappy install?
I sure did, and my heads and tails came out better than I ever would have imagined However even the spray leaves a sort of brownish color when the running light is on. Other than that it is not visible at all.sc_coupe wrote:i believe it was Rob.Vegan that painted his headlights...im pretty sure it was him
The problem is I HATE the line it makes on the headlight (no offense to others this i just my opinion). It looks so unnatural to me (even though it follows the lines of the inner headlight), the fact that if you look at it from a certain angle that the overlay can look 'off' depending on what angle you look at it is a complete deal breaker for me.Blue Batmobile wrote:

BRILLIANT! LOLLongBeachCoupe wrote:i believe it would be the full coverage, with the GTR on top of it.
You get brown shades from a amber light being muted... change the damn bulb to a hyperwhite and i think you will see a significant difference!
Looks good..was it easy to install? Did you do it by yourself?Heels1010 wrote:I love mine. They were only cloudy for the first day until they set in. I recently put in the HID kit and the 3rd picture may appear cloudy but it is just that my car was dirty and since it snowed here I haven't been able to take any other pics. The film is called Lamin-X film. They make it in clear, smoke, and black. I got the smoke color on my car. It also protects the headlight from chips and scratches.
