Does anyone have any experience with a front end bra?
At 12,000 miles I have at least 8 tiny chips on the hood and no one makes a hood deflector for the 2014 yet.
Nissan sells a bra for $125.

I'm not interested in 3M or Plastidip.

Bad idea. The bra doesn't stick to the hood and moves when you drive due to wind. The dirt, dirty water etc will get between bra and the hood and will damage even more the hood. I haven't tried any oem bras but tried magnetic.

My past experience with a bra is all bad. Road debris collects under it and scratches the hell out of your paint (gravel, bugs, leaves, tree bits).

I had the window tint guy install a clear bra on our 2013 Accord, and love it. Not easily seen and no chips. Would love to have it done on the rogue, just don't have the extra $$ right now.

I bought some of the spray on gravel guard. What I got was manufactured by Armor-All. It worked well and only cost about $13.00 at Walmart.

As an aside, if taken care of properly, bras work wonderfully and do not cause paint damage.

bra's flap in the wind, and cause clear coat damage. they also lock in moisture after rain for a lot longer. grit & sand get behind the bra, and scratch up the paint.

As I said: As an aside, if taken care of properly, bras work wonderfully and do not cause paint damage.

If they fit properly, they don't flap in the wind. If kept clean, they don't cause paint damage. When wet, they need to be dried. I have used many for untold thousands of miles and have never had so much as a mark in my paint. If you don't take care of the car and/or bra properly, the damage will be significant.

I think bras are ugly so I'm waiting for a hood deflector. Already have a chip in the paint and not even at 2500 miles yet though :(

To me, clear bra is the way to go.... at most angels it's hard to even see it.

Unless you live in the SW I'd think taking it off and drying the Bra after every rain would be a nightmare. Like 52 times a year!

It is a pain. That is a big part of why I tried the spray-on this time. So far, so good.

Which spay on did you use? Have any problems, or runs?

I got the product sold by ArmorAll. Walmart around here has it on sale for about $13.00 for a can that will do at least a couple of cars. I did my Rogue and my Mustang and still have quite a bit left. There were no problems with application except on my Mustang. I got a very slightly ragged edge when I removed the tape. It was my fault because I didn't have the wet edge quite wet enough. Their web site shows the process and it is really very straight forward.

Most places call it 'paint protection', it's a clear peice of material (I forget what kind) that goes on your car that is suppose to help protect against small rocks exc. At most angles and from a distace you can't really tell that anything is on the car.

Do a search on you tube for clear bra and you can see how it's installed exc.

This stuff works great. However, it is very expensive.

3M makes an excellent product, in fact if you look down at the lower part of your doors you will see a small strip of it installed in the factory.

Google "Invisible Mask" they have kits for the 2014 Rogue and if they are installed correctly by a Pro they are awesome!

Good luck!

With Winter on the way I would say save your money and don't do the bra. The car gets dirty and if there is any water on the hood it will roll down under the bra and get stuck on the nice cotton fabric that will move and it will start to sand away the clear coat. but it you're in a state where is warm all year and there is little rain do it is your vehicle and dependding on the care and time you put into this new mod it will either work or not, for me I have 2 bras one from a TL and one from my wife's 1996 Chevy Lumina..bad choices then and now for me ...good luck on your decision :)

Sorry I'm just now reading this. Been a while since I've been on the forums, but I was wondering how someone would get one of these now? I clicked on the link you left and it was on an Ebay listing that ended. :frown: I also live in the States and wondered if this was available here yet. I need one of these so badly! My hood is starting to have more chips than a bag of Lays. Thank you in advance for any help you can give. I looked at this pic and I was like :bigthumb:

Got my hood deflector from my local Nissan dealer a few days ago and put it on myself to save $60 installation fee. ;)
I'm loving it so far since it blends into the black quite nicely. Hope it does the job for my up coming long trip.

Fairly easy. Took me half an hour.
It uses 7 pedestals with 3M adhesive to attach to the front edge of the hood..

Great thanks. How is it attached under the hold is it held there with snaps and is there any part of the deflector that touches the paint. I'm asking this in order to prevent any rubbing and scrapping of the paint of coarse. thanks again.

There is no direct contact between the hood and the deflector. The deflector is attached to the 7 pedestals which are adhered to the hood, also with padded brackets for reinforcement.
Now if I change my mind (which I don't think I'll) in the future and want to take the whole thing off I don't know how easy it would be to take off those pedestals since they use strong 3M adhesive.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks again.
