VIN stamped on frame?

Anyone know where the VIN can be found that is stamped on the frame? It's an '84. Thanks

It was stolen and the a**holes pulled the vin plate off the dash and the door panel. I know they stamp the frame somewhere I just can't find it. I need to match the title up so I can get new vin plates made. Not many old Datsun truck lovers in Oregon huh?

should be stamped on the fire wall in the engine bay

Would the chassis number be enough? Its to the front by the radiator on the right hand side on the chassis when viewing from the front of the truck.
