so i bought this 240sx and i think the vin numbers on the car have been changed from one 240 to this one, now all the numbers on the badges match the title but they look a little suspect.. is there a way to check to see if this has happened? and it also looks like they maybe covered up the stamped one on the firewall.. please help and would this be a huge problem for me?

Bump because what the internet is telling me and what the car shows are two different things for one I'm looking at. Seventh VIN digit is 6, which means hatchback from everything I've read. This is the digit on the dashboard and insurance papers. Internet says 4 is for coupe, 6 is for fastback, and this car is a coupe...

Does the dash match the firewall plate? Dash could have been swapped then the dash VIN used by mistake. I once had a Mustang with 3 VIN numbers! Luckily it was not stolen just pieced together and the wrong VIN was used to register it.
