Hello:

I know someone at one time had mentioned some information about the serial number on the L320's that indicated the number of production and the year located in the Car #.

Is this also the VIN #?

DMV is having a fit not knowing where the VIN # is!

Because the VIN # on the title does not look like the Car # on the ID plate.

Can someone educate me?

As far as I know that's the vin.  The bottom number on the plate listed as 'CAR NO.'  Should be in the form of X-L320-XXXXX.  The first X indicates the year as in 2 for 1962, 3 for 1963, etc. and the second set of X's indicates the production number.

Isn't that the DMV's job to know where the VIN's are???

check the passenger side of the frame inside near where the motor mount is located...if memory serves me correctly...
