Alright, I've got a question about importing an '95 R33 GT-R. The kind folks at Evolution Imports say that their R33 is emissions legal in all 50 states, but has not yet recieved a legalized VIN number. Being a Skyline n00b, I was wondering what the hell that meant. I understand that the car has to recieve a "US VIN" but wasn't sure why. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Always ask for an HS-7 , 3520-1 and a bond release.

If you dont get it , dont buy the car - its not legal.

Right on GSE2While I am not going to say anything publically declamatory about EvoImports, it is legitimate and correct to say that they do not LEGALLY import their vehicles. You can contact him directly and ask. They use the cut/paste (chop/swap, etc) method---which will allow you to register your vehicle MAYBE if the folks at the DMV don't look out the window, or something crazy like that.....Nobody who is LEGITIMATELY in this industry(Mr. Morris, myself, countless others)will advise you to do such a thing---it is highly illegal, and strictly enforced.
