Hi i am new to the forums, i recent aquired a 08 versa hb sl. I like it alot.

I read that i could save $ on insurance by having the vin etched on all the windows of the vehicle. Is this true and did anyone here have this done?

if so did u do it by yourself? where did u get the kit from? or did you have the dealer do it for you?

thanks

I do not think it is worth it!

But if you think you need it you can buy a DYI kit for less then $20 at several places like : http://www.vinetcher.com/

I've never done it to any of my cars but if it gets you a discount with your insurance company then it might be worth it. Check with them first though to make sure. Our new cars have the vin in so many places already though I doubt you would get a serious discount.

I don't see how it could be worth it, if you've ever dismantled a car, you'd know the VIN is stamped EVERYWHERE! door jambs, floor pans, cowling, inside the trunk in numerous spots, under the dash, embedded into the computer, and the engine block's serial number can be traced to the vin# of the vehicle it came from, not to mention the serial numbers of most of the components.
