What exactly are you trying to figure out? Carfax is great for previous vehicle records, it just cost a little money is the only downside

I am interested in a 95 240 with a salvage title. I was trying to figure out how badly it was damaged to be salvaged. I was told that it is because it was stolen. Will carfax tell me details like that?

Typical Craigslist disclaimer "salvage title due to theft"... I see that a lot and think it's good of you to check into the accuracy of that statement. You can do your VIN research and/ or you can "see" the damage/ repairs upon inspection.

Usually you can do a free VIN check at a police department to see if a vehicle has been stolen.
At least it will let you know if the seller is telling the truth or not.
