This is a (long) video of me and Darius going up to the dragstrip with a bunch of friends from Des Moines.

There is lots of footage of other cars, but you can catch quick glimpses our our cars in it.

I had a crappy night, as I kept blowing intercooler couplers, but managed a 13.1 @ 119 mph on a HORRIBLE launch.

Matt had issues too as you can see him parked on the race track in the video

Oh, and I'm sure many of you will be curious about that MR2 with the "top exit" exhaust. He managed a 10.X at 140mph before breaking an axle cage.

Yeah, I used to get by without bead rolled pipes, but i'm running 22psi now and they just don't hold anymore. I'm also gonna switch to stainless pipes so I can crank the t clamps down hard.

I'm actually looking into buying drag slicks for next season. I know they'll hold.

No, never did make it to a dyno this summer. I kept changing stuff and we tune on the street so there was no real need. I am curious about how much power I'm making, I estimate 400ish.

not to be a bench racer or anything, but my old setup did 118 mph with 404 dynojet rwhp.. so you're probably right around there

We were at "fun night" at Cedar Falls Raceway in Iowa. They have an open test and tune every Friday night during the summers. $15 to race is pretty cheap compared to other track fees that I've heard of. Their tech inspection is a joke too. All of us "ricers" pull in and they don't even look at the cars. They just ask, "is it mostly stock" and I'm like "YEP!" and that is the extent of inspection. No helmet requirement and they don't care what you wear. I have heard some places won't let you wear shorts.

Shorts are a must in a 240 with an RB with no A/C in 90 degree weather otherwise your balls will sweat off.

I never risk the safety of my life wether the tracks enforce the rules or not. I never run my car without my full faced DOT approved helmet, 5 point safety harness fully strapped in and my drivers suit, along with a full roll cage in the car. Never worth taking the risk.

Trapping 100+MPH anything that goes wrong, axles breaking, tire going flat, etc can send you across that guard rail faster than you can pull your finger out of your ***.

I have seen guys hit the guard rail only trapping 60MPH and it sends them flipping through the air. Never can predict it.

Just be safe guys, I have raced on professional teams for 6 years now and safety is the most importing thing on our race team. It has saved our driver life 4 times now. He has broke his back in a few crashes and it doesnt look fun so I personally wont risk it.

you guys suck.. our local track requires full tech inspections, external power switches for relocated batteries, jeans, long sleeve shirts, helmets for 13.99 eta and under, cages for 11.99 and under... etc... Anyway, nice vid, nice cars!!

Yeah, the GT3076R I'm running right now is very loud. I love it! You can hear turbo whine just cruising the back streets. People are turning their heads looking for a semi truck driving by their house then they see my car. LOL

Granted, it's louder because I've moved my MAF after the turbo so I only have a 4" intake pipe and an air filter before the turbo.

Sorry, no 60' or 1/8 trap right now. I was disgusted with my times that night so I didn't even take the slip from the timing guy.

Just saw the vid. Awesome race. That MR2 was sick. Period.

Both your s14s were sick. Very fast I must say.

cdorhout, I plan on getting the same turbo for my rb20. It sounds like its a perfect setup for you, making the power you want.
