Okay i swapped my SR myself i got it from JSAMotors and it started up immediately on the first turn on the key no hesitation so i was happy....but it sounds like pure s***. The motor sounds like its running fine but there is a really loud clicking/rattling noise (on top of the super loud exhaust that has no cat or muffle on it yet) The only guesses ive accumulated so far are that maybe an oil line to the turbo is blocked clogged or hooked up wrong? Or maybe my timing is off? I I need to look up how the timing works on the distributor-less motor how do i adjust igniton timing without it? I didn't use a torque wrench on the turbo lines cause i don't have one......i just guessed/tried to put them on the same i took them off. Someone please help i've had numerous people over there and all they say is 'could be anything' and then leave.

Listen to this pathetic thing:When it gets dark at like 0:40 i am holding the camera down by the turbo to see if the noise got louder...it is much more noticeable in person but this crap camera's all i got... )=

Could be an exhaust leak. Use a piece of hose held to your ear as a stethoscope to isolate where the noise is coming from.

I've never used the hose before to find noises, but I have used a piece of wooden dowel rod or wooden broom handle.

If it is an exhaust leak you can put your hand down there before the engine gets hot and feel for the air escaping. There's also the old soap in a squirt bottle and spray and look for bubbles. Plus if it's leaking you will start to notice the gasket where it's leaking turning black. Typically if it's a bad leak nuts/bolts are loose/missing.

The way it sounds in the video is familiar, but I can't quiet place it.... Gonna bug me all day.

Oh, and as far as it being turbo noise I'm not sure there I've never had experience with one acting up. *knock-on-wood*

Thanks for the advice i'll try to narrow down where it is coming from with a piece of word or something of the the sort.

It would be so cool if you were right and it wasn't the turbo i was discouraged when i thought it was...

Have to wait and see i have work for a few days no time.

I am almost ready just to pay someone to help me finish but i don't even know who i would ask cause idk how Nissan would feel about the SR20 dealio. Wish i didn't suck so bad at diagnosing, replacing parts is kindergarten but i can't replace/fix anything when i don't even know what is wrong.

EDIT: The hose coming from my wastegate(i think?) isn't hooked up to anything..could this have something to do with it? Does it hook up to a vacuum line coming from the throttle body?

Tat vacuum line needs to see boost. So just anywhere in you IC piping. That wouldnt cause this noise thought. And norrowing down where the sound is comming from will help alot. I usually use a long screw driver...

dumb question I know, but how is the oil level on the engine, almost sounds like the valves chattering...if now that, then I would say exhaust leak
