Car: 2008 Nissan Rogue

Post

I have been reading your forum about transmission noises. My problem is similar with my 2008 Rogue (perhaps the same). When the revs are below 1500 and I am coasting around city streets between 30 - 60 kph, barely touching the accelerator, I get a definite vibration from the steering wheel. When the revs increase and I am driving at normal highway speed it disappears and the Rogue runs fine. The dealership seems to "think this is normal", but it is very annoying. Any suggestions.

Hey John,

Congrats on the new Rogue.

This is typical of this car and the CVT. There are a bunch of threads on this (I think one is anchored - or is in the FAQs section). Essentially - when compared to other transmissions - the engine RPMs are much lower than you'd find in other cars which results in the vibration/rumble.

It took me a little while to get used to it, but I find now I'm hard pressed to feel the vibration even if I'm trying to. I've certainly grown accustomed to it, but I think the vibration is not as severe after the engine breaks in.

Good luck!
