Hello all,

I'm new to this forum. I have a little problem. I own a 2003 Pathfinder LE 4x4. i just got back from a trip and on the trip the car drove wonderfully. two or three days later i got a not bad but very noticable vibration in the seat. At 40-65mph. found what looked like a trown driveshaft weight in the 4 wheel drive shaft. got the shaft balanced and had new u-joints put on it. I also put new u-joints on the main drive shaft. While the 4 wheel drive shaft was being balanced the car had no vibration at all. So I thought the shaft was going to fix it. well it did not fix it. any ideas??? Aaron

Did you do any off road driving? Or was it all highway?Quote »At 40-65mph.
Have you tried driving at the same speed with the overdrive off? Just for the purpose of increasing the RPMs to rule out any engine problems?Quote »found what looked like a trown driveshaft weight in the 4 wheel drive shaft.
Inside the driveshaft? Did you remove the shaft as part of your inspection and that's when you found it?

And is the car fulltime 4wd or part-time? Should be part, if you got an '03, unless the LE included fulltime..I have an '04 LS and I have the part time...do you have an actual shifter for 2HI-N-4HI-4LO? Next to the transmission shifter? I'm assuming at this point you have the front driveshaft back in the vehicle? Usually, from what I've experienced, if the steering wheel is vibrating, you have an issue up front....if it's felt from the seat, it's usually an issue with something in that region, i.e. trans or transfer case...Is there any noise being made to accompany the vibration?

all highway driving. no offroad. you only feel the vibration in the seat of the car. no noise with vibration. if you sit in the pass seat you don't feel it near as bad and can't even notice it in the back seat. just driver. its like the vibration is directly below. it came about as quick as waking up and all of the sudden there is a vibration. its not that i just all of the sudden just noticed it.

i have the part time all wheel drive. it does not have the lever buy the shifter it has a switch/knob by the ashtray. rpm's have no effect.
