I've been noticing in the last couple months, i'm getting a very metallic rattle/vibration noise at certain RPMs. It kind of came out of no where, but i'm thinking it might be an exhaust shield come loose or got moved somehow to where it's not rubbing against another part?

It's not really that loud, but its noticeable.

Any ideas before I bring it in the shop to have looked at?

same here, any help is appreciated x2. I know it's not my timing chain issue, thats a seperate noise altogether. This noise shows up upon acceleration around 2400 rpms to about 3000 rpms.

Are these VH41DE, VH45DE or VK45DE?

Exhaust shield rattles are pretty easy to detect under the car.

But if you have timing chain noises, an immediate repair is required! I think it would be extrememly difficult to separate timing chain failure noise from other internal engine failure noises. Maybe you have X-ray vision?

I assume the first original poster meant for the VH41DE.

Does sound reasonable to assume exhaust shields. Good to get it on a lift and check it out.

How about the bearings on the belt(s) tensioners? They seem to start whining at certain (high) RPM before they give up
