Brake pads may be excessively worn causing the brake wear indicator to scratch the rotor.

Could be the drive shaft? check that the carrier bearing and joints are all ok. Could also be time for a diff fluid change (see if anything comes out).

I know this thread is old. but we are here for each other right

I have the same problem in mine, and i have new rotors and pads, so is no the brakes, although the problem began about 2 days after my brake job. it occurs on my passenger side rear tire. the whole tire kinda jumps and everything, as i had my friend back it up for me, but is really hard to knowist what is causing it.

mine did the same. where the axle goes into the wheel hub theres a very tight tolerance. for some reason mine rubbed there only in reverse or when the car went backwards. i shot some silicone in there and it instantly cured the problem. i did this about three times in a month and never heard the noise again . hope that helps.

I have the same problem. The noise had always occured, but really started to become more frequent after I changed all rotors and pads. What's funny is that when the noise is occuring, after I tap the brakes while still backing up, the noise goes away.

OK, remove your rear brake caliper, there are 2 little pistons that the bolts go through to bolt up the caliper. Now pull those apart and clean them very well with brake parts cleaner, and maybe a very fine sandpaper. Main thing is get rid of the coked up grease in there. Make sure it moves in and out smoothly when you are finished removing the old grease. Re grease these and on most of you guy's cars that is having this issue, will go away.

Are you talking about the sliding pins? The ones that are covered by the rubber boot? If so, I made sure to apply anti-seize to them before I put everything together.
