Let me describe the symptoms and what was done, and you give me your opinion

1- Changed the clutch to a performance clutch from Competition Clutch, had my flywheel resurfaced.

2- Changed the motor mounts (bought them at ebay, they are "Toki Rubber" brand... don't be a wise @$$ and tell me that's my problem lol). They fitted perfect, but look more sturdy and fell way more solid. Of course, the original ones are 120k miles old.

Symptoms:

1- You can feel a real fast vibration on the steering wheel and parts of the interior rattle.2- The cabin is noisier3- The vibration seems to be constant throughout the rpm range.

First thing that came to mind: "@#$!#@$% the flywheel wasn't cut right and it's out of balance!", but then I started to second guess myself because I've never had mounts so stiff on my car. Before I used to be able to rock the engine from side to side easily, but now I can't move it even a quarter inch. These mounts are really stiff....

Any other suggestions on how to tell if the vibrations come from the flywheel? (note: it does it while in neutral, so I don't think it's the drive shaft)

thanks

I got racehard mounts in my car and it shakes pretty good at idle. it clears up when it gets gas though but I bet it is your mounts the flywheel would really have to be out of balance to notice anything. also check your driveshaft some times they can cause a shacke if it is 180 opposite of where it was bolted to the diff.

Welcome to the world of performance motor mounts.

Usually though the vibration doesnt follow you through the RPM range, it usually goes away with more RPMs.

Very unlikely that this is a flywheel issue.

Lol, yeah... I gotta say I didn't intend for the mounts to be stiffer. When I bought them I thought they were OEM, but anyways, it's better to have stiffer mounts when you install a performance clutch right?

Thanks man, it seems to be the mounts after all. Tested the car to work this morning (it's a 30mile drive) and sure enough, the vibrations die out at higher rpm (2500rpm and up). Cruising at 70mph you barely notice anything, just a faint humm. Probably these mounts are not really liquid filled like the OEM mounts. Not likely since they cost me $86 for the pair! haha
