I got my oil changed yesterday for the 15000 mile mark, and now when the car is at a complete stop there is a vibration in the brake pedal, but only when the car is in drive. Anyone else had this propblem? I'm calling the service dept tomorrow to make an appt

ABS is like VETCH, it only kicks in when you punch the pedal hard.

Hmmmm, Warped disc's are more from fast heating and cooling of the rotors unless you slam on the brakes for a whole car trip then go and wash your car they shouldn't warp. I'd bring it to the dealer and make sure YOU MAKE THE REP DRIVE WITH YOU!

She said that this vibration is present while the car is stopped and in Drive. You feel a warped disc in the process of braking - not while the car is stopped.

Is this just a case of vibration from the engine transmitting through the pedal? Note that engine RPMs change between Park and Drive - which can create different vibrations at different RPMs. Perhaps that's why you only feel it while stopped in Drive.

This is definitely a vibration from your engine or transmission making its way to your brake pedal.

You mentioned you just got your oil changed... did they use a different kind? Also, did you have your transmission fluid changed?

It's probably something superficial, I doubt that you would have a broken motor or transmission mount at this mileage.

Just for kicks, though, turn off your stereo and drive around for a while. If you hear a single POP! whenever you make a moderate turn one direction or the other, it COULD be a cracked torque rod (which is similar to an engine mount).

The same thing happened to me...

It's just that WITH OR WITHOUT ABS, our brakes are a pretty good size, but it is a NEW brake rotor that, even after several thousand miles, is being released into much colder weather than usual.

The humidity here made my brakes wear strangely, so I had the rotors re-surfaced and the problem stopped. If you notice it ONLY on the highway mid-higher speeds, it's because there is a small discrepancy in the form of the actual rotor, kind of like a record that is bent slightly will cause distortion.

SO,

Get the dealership to resurface the brakes and only after this, start worrying about the extreme problems...

Hope that helps!

For those that missed it the first time...

Occurs only once the car is AT a compete stop, so it's not brake related.

sooo she went into the dealer today, and it's a cracked motor mount. Its covered under warrenty though so thats good. The service guy also told me to be carefull of where I get my oil changed at, I guess they put stress on it or something and caused it to crack...I dunno it'll be fixed in a few days

Can someone go a bit more in depth as to why oil changes are causing broken motor mounts please?

Indeed, I was thinking the same think. The two are not remotely related.

You remove the oil filter and drain bolt from underneath. Replace with new filter and new washer for drain bolt. Unscrew oil filler cap and fill with 4 quarts of oil. Check level. Change done.

Does the lift that they are using, somehow put pressure on one of the motor-mounts?
