A few things I have experienced in the past that caused those symptoms: rim bent out of round warped brake rotors belt separation within the tire bulge in side of tire

A belt seperation might not show up during a balance but hope you don't find out the hard way at 75+ when that sucker flies apart!!

one way to see if its a tire..kinda lengthy process but it will narrow it down a bit. put the spare on one corner, take it on the highway and see if it gets any better..keep doing that for all 4 corners. if it ever gets smooth, you know the tire thats still sitting at your house should be the culprit.

p.s. since you said you didnt feel it in the steering wheel, only the gas pedal, id try the back 2 tires first.

good call, you can rule out brake rotors, as they would cause the steering wheel to shake Smoe other ideas - driveshaft vibrations? blown strut in back?

i know it is not the tires coz i just got it...it could be the driveshaft, where is the driveshaft and how much would it cost to repair it. wat r the other symptoms of bad driveshaft?

That is not a valid reason - i've seen brand new tires cause violent vibrations... what brand are they?

Yeah I work at Discount Tire, you would be surprised how many tires are junk tires brand new, directly from the warehouse. We had a new 31x10.5R15 BFG AT we had to send back because it was wobbling, hopping and doing all kinds of crazy stuff on the balancer. What tires are they? And where did you buy them?

I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4 w 70K miles (nearly identifical to the Pathfinder) and the same problem - found this thread by searching for advice. Vibrations happen at different frequencies depending what's doing the vibrating. While wheel balance is typically the problem - either gradually or if a wheel weight falls off - suspect rear tires if the steering wheel isn't vibrating and you feel it in the seat. Apart from the items others have mentioned I'd suggest taking a look at the engine mounts.

In my case, the tires have been balanced four times by three different shops - I guess that isn't the problem and am starting to think drive-shaft or u-joint....although the suggestion to swap around a spare to each of the four wheels is a good one that I haven't explored.

I once had 2 problems - shaking, and alignment would never be straight I had the wheels balanced four times - still shaking I had the car aligned three times - still pulling to the side My mechanic mentioned that it could be belt separation in the tires (which i didn't believe because were fairly new) Slapped some new tires on and WOW - smooth ride and straight alignment.

These were Nankang Mudstar M/T - made in Taiwan

mine has a small vibration at 60+ and it pulls to the left a tad, havent had a chance to do alingment or get a balance and rotation though. we'll see what happens. hope that fixes it cause the tires are darn near brand new.

my tires are bridgestone...got it from mr tire... as far as i know it could not be tires...

reason

it drives very smooth till 60..

from 60 to 70mph , i feel the vibration.. and above that speed it smooths out again...

is could not be balancing coz i jus did it from mr tire..

i dont know wat is it...?????????

another problem

when i am at speed 50mph the sterring vibrates ,,,

speed below 50 or above 50 its is again normal...

please someone know wat could be the problem?

its hard to pinpoint a problem like that without actually trying several different things..a vibration could be a number of things, like the ones listed above or something else. you gotta use the methods listed above to start eliminating things and at least narrowing it down. start with the tires/rims. make sure theyre balanced, properly inflated, and try the tire swapping thing i mentioned above. also make sure the rims are straight. if that doesnt fix it after youre 100% sure its not a tire/wheel issue, move on. driveshaft, front and rear(if you figured out what that was)? u-joints? motor/transmission mounts? you just need to make a list out of all these posts and slowly start eliminating them, one by one. if youre not very car savy, just take it in to a respectable mechanic and let 'em fiddle with it until they find it. like i said, a vibration could be a wide variety of things, no matter what speed it starts and stops.
