So recently I got a set of nismo A34 rims and new hankook ventus sport k104 tires. I noticed on the way home that there is some vibration in the steering wheel and that my alignment just seems off as well. They aligned the wheels as part of the package, so im thinking that my wheels arent centered on the hub. I dont think these came with the hub centric rings. Its been almost 2 weeks that I have had the wheels, and it hasn't gone away. I'd rather not take it back to where I got the wheels (stupid stealership up in NH), rather I'd take it some place that I've used and know to be reputable around here (town fair tire).

This just seems to be the way my brain diagnosed these things. I'll take a wheel off later to see if they actually have the rings, but I'm doubting it.

Am I talking crazy here or do i have some validity

You went from stock to Low profs right?

The first 50ish miles i put my new rims on i felt a lot of vibration compared to the stocks. They eventually evened out and i just feel the road a lot more then the stock wheels did. So its normal for a little more bumpy ride quality. But not too much. Try throwing the stocks on again to see if it is the alignment.

Kinda worried me when i first threw on my 19's, ride quality was killed! but like i said after 50miles or so they either got centered or i got used to the feel =P

I defiantly can take the corners with a lot more confidence now though.

Well, I have definitely put more than 50 miles on them, that's for sure. This is another weird thing that makes me sure that the wheels aren't out of round. the vibration is only really in a straight line path. taking on ramps and off ramps at the same speed it goes away (since braking is for p*ssies).

Thinking about it now, i'm basically having people here just justify my want for spending more money on the car (albeit short money).

i think you just need to find out the hub bore size of your new rims. the altima has 66.1 so if they don't match, then it's probably the case that you don't have the hub rings. if that's the case you can pick up a set of hub rings anywhere and put them in yourself or take it to a shop and have them do it.

They may need to be rebalanced.

That's right, now i remember . . .

My set of rims came with those hub rings. very cool. Either new wheels for you or not, get them. Very simple to put them on yourself.

OK, this being said, anyone know where I can find out the inner bore of the wheels? When I bought them, i got them from a dealer, who was trying to sell them on another car, and they gave me the package for a steal... BUT, I have no info that would have come with the boxes they would be shipped in.

Edit: without taking them off and getting a best measurement with a set of calipers anyway

phone the dealer and ask them, they should know since they sold them to you even though they were on a different car. otherwise google is your friend. i tried to google your rim type bore size but came up empty, maybe you'll have some better luck.

Contact the manufacturer of the wheels, or a shop that sells them... discount tire direct maybe?

Ya I have the same problem. I put new rims (19x8 TSW Vortex with Falken 452) with new hub ring and I get vibration at around 130 km/h and it seems to be only when im in a staright line. I got them re-balanced after a week and now I get a vibration at 140 but not all the time. Im not sure what the hell it is.

I have also been told that certain tires will get a flat spot in them, meaning after you drive and heat up the tires, your tires will develop a flattened spot that may worsen this effect. either way, I'm going to go get them rebalanced, and re aligned and see if this works out.

BTW, in my research about the hub rings i found that the bore of the nismo wheels is 66.1 meaning i should be fine. (in case someone else runs into this in the future).

I had the exact same thing happen to me when going like 75+. I am hoping it goes away with a few more miles put on it.
