I have a redtop stock clutch an all, recently a loud vibrating noise started at around 5k + RPM... It sounds like it is in the transmission, but im not sure what it is. Could it be the clutch, flywheel, or something with the driveshaft maybe? I tried searching but i couldnt find anything really. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated... Thank you

If your car is doing it in nuetral at a stand still you have eliminated your rear half of your trans and the drive shaft as well as all rear end components. this problem if at a stand still is likely in the bell housing area of the trans. how bout with the clutch down ?

Wow at a stand still not moving holding the clutch down completely disengages the trans from rotation. This would lead you to likely the flywheel. But before you go ripping into this. Can you feel the vibration or only hear it? You may just have a vibration heat sheild on your exhuast?

Use a rubber mallet to hit the exhuast and listen for any rattle noises that may be similar to your noise.

alright.. i tried that an didnt hear nothin out of the ordinary i guess... but i got under the car in my uncles pit in his garage and had someone rev the motor and its coming from the transmission... So would that mean it is the flywheel? or could it possibly be something else?

When you remove the bolts from the bell housing and you are basically ready to drop it, you need to slide it back about an inch to clear the dowl pins and rotate it 90 degrees. Also if your doing this on the ground use a floor jack and a peice of 2x4 to push up at the crank pulley. This will give you the best clearence to get it out. The hardest part is to get the bell housing, primarily the starter boss, to clear the floor pan when removing it.

Well i decided to unbolt the exhaust and start it first to make sure it wasnt the exhaust... Come to find out it was mainly the downpipe loose from the turbo, which is now fixed. I thought for sure it wasnt that though, but another noise i heard was from between the turbo and manifold... either 1 or 2 of the nuts holding the turbo to the manifold are loose i guess an making one hell of an exhaust leak...

Thanks for all your help guys, I appreciate it.
