how does it make more power? doesn't it make the vi stuck open? - that would cause a loss of power. please explain.

There is a slight low end power loss but the gains up to are worth the slight low end loss. I'm not sure how exactly the VIAS works but without it gave a very noticable gain once you get past 4000rpms it pulls like a mofo I also have a SSIM so that in conjunction with the VIAS delete makes awsome gains. I didn't realize you've got the 3.0 I don't know if its the same with your engine. Sorry

ou are confusing the 00-01 VIAS with the 02-03 VIAS. As Sloppymax already posted, they function differently. The 00-01 VI is closed by default, so when the VIAS mechanism (almost always the power rod that opens the valves) is faulty, it remains closed, so it mainly affects the upper RPM ranges. On the 02-03, the VIAS has its default position as open, but is closed via vacuum and ECM control from 1800-3600 rpm, so when any part of that mechanism is faulty, the valve remains open throughout the RPM band.

The other pages I read as there is tons of info wont work on 2001 back.

ok kinda got it now - seems its not right for my 00'. back to my original question - - they fail / break as that link states? im just wondering if i should go through the trouble of removing it to check for the broken ''cup'' and do the JB weld/kwik fix or replace ( $ ? ) or what others with 00' have done ?

Well do you feel your car running differently in the upper rpm's as if it might have failed? Its only a couple of bolts to check right?
