I recently purchased a 2001 QX4 with the VHS player. I can insert and play a VHS tape, but cannot figure out how to hear the audio, nor do I see it in the owner's manual. Does anyone know how to
use the VHS (or probably DVD) player and adjust the volume? I sure would love to be able to use this. Thanks for your help. (I have even asked the dealer, but nobody has been there long enough to know the answer)

Can you show is any pictures of the face plate of the VHS player or any other identifying images?
I once saw a Pathfinder with a VHS player in the junk yard, but I just assumed it was something that was custom made.

Otherwise, I'll ask the basic. Have you tried using the steering wheel and also regular head unit volume controls? Did you buy the vehicle from an individual or dealership?

You should have an AUX switch toward the bottom of your console, when turned on you should be able to control the volume via the radio. Also, if your VHS is like mine, it has A/V in jacks that you can use to drive the audio/video from another source.

Sorry I have not been here for a while, but I want to thank EdBwoy for your input, but A BIG THANK YOU! to sroberts; THAT WAS IT! I even wrote to the Infiniti dealer where I have it serviced and nobody there knew the answer. (I guess due to the age, nobody had been there that long) (EdBwoy, I purchased it about a year ago from a Kia dealer, so I knew they would be of no help)
sroberts, I have also asked 2 or 3 people at the dealer what the AUX button was for, and nobody knew the answer to that either. I have to say, as soon as I read your answer, I could not get outside fast enough to try it. I will also say that I purchased this as it was in good condition, but not great, but a 4X4 and loaded. So, being how I am, have spent over $15,000 in work: getting it as mechanically perfect as I can, replacing wheels/tires, replacing the faded carpet & mats w/ OEM, then having the body/paint taken back up to how it should be by Superior Auto Body in St. Pete. (including replacing the faded wheel flare rubber molding) So, I have taken the "restoration" to a high level, and not being able to hear the VHS player would be tough. (Sorry, but another side note, I tried to have a DVD player installed overhead and also be able to play the VHS tapes, but the cable connecting the player was such they were not able to connect it to the Alpine DVD player) Thanks again to you both for taking the time to reply. Very much appreciated, Greg

Greg - good to hear you have it working. My VHS started eating tapes a few years ago so I ended up removing it - I spliced an RCA A/V input cable to the wires that went to the VHS so I could use a portable DVD, as well as source the stereo from my smartphone. I imagine it would be pretty easy to add bluetooth paring via your AUX input, that is if you plan to keep the OEM stereo.

Wow, thanks again Steve. I wanted to add or somehow have a DVD player, since I have mostly DVD's (like most people) but still have some VHS tapes, so can listen and/or watch those on road trips. I did not know you could splice the wire to use a DVD player. That would be PERFECT, as I am now thinking also of putting a DVD player behind the headrest(s). (I wanted to add DVD players into the headrests, but when I was told it was over $1000, my decision changed quickly. Thanks again for all your help. Greg
