how does the VTC on the vh45 affect intake timing [degrees]?

what is the stock adjustment that the VTC performs [how many degrees advance/retard, and at what RPM's?]

The VTC works up to 4600 RPMs on high engine load and advances the intake timing from 8* exhaust overlap to 28* overlap.

any easy way to disable it? i want to figure out my cam timing for turbo, and the 8 degrees overlap is plenty.

Look at a 1996 VH45DE with OBD II. It didn't have the cam advance, so always my choice for exploring boost on the VH45DE.

there gonna be starting OBDII scanning at inspection next year in NY, and im avoiding OBDII.

i could have it passed, but im gonna fab up an intake and eliminate the egr and such, and an obd2 ecu will freak out.

im not sure if im gonna use the stock ecu and a chip/piggyback or go standalone.

How are you going to pass a dyno emission test [OBD1] for Nox with no EGR?

car on dyno, sniffer in another. i used to work in a shop. its just tough to get around the new obd2 scanning there adding next year.

we aimed the camera for the inspection computer so it will see the car on the dyno, but not the exhaust.
