VH45DE valve covers??

On a Q45 VH45DE, what year valve covers are interchangeable?? Is there anyway to tell the difference??

I know there was a change during the G50's run. I believe it corresponds with the other major change, oval to siamesed intake runners. But I would wager that a complete valve cover from early motors fits on late motors and vice versa.

90-93 and 94-96.. The early ones use RTV and have the little "viewing panels" on the sides... The later ones do not have this and they use a gasket.

Did anyone ever determine that the 2nd gen vh45 valve covers would mount to a 1st gen?
