I don't post too much on this forum and I actually don't even have my own thread on the subject here but if you're interested in seeing some of my progress you can check out:

I trying to wrap my mind around a stock VH45 in a G35 coupe ....

With twin turbos it's gonna be hard to keep the rear tires planted, heheh.

There are always stickier tires.....

Less horsepower is never the answer. I've been watching this one, very sweet.

It is gold, I think it's paint but could be wrong. He is also selling a set of polished valve covers for a 90-93 VH that are friggin sweet looking.

Tecni- you deserve a lot of credit for doing something that none of us here have done.if i may, a few thoughts and observations:i trust you have done a lot of research on our site as the vanguards of the VH45 and know about the plastic slack side chain tensioners that must be replaced on your engine.i only skimmed the 10 pages in your thread, but see you are putting on new alternator and pulleys--good. you are also replacing the knock sensors and rear main crank seal i trust. are the 68U (late model '94-'96) lower runners just for fitting? since you have the dual port intakes on your heads, the 68U's will have a discontinuity zone where the single oval runner meets the dual port head.

not trying to take away from the good work you are doing, but as you said--you are not a regular here so want to do what we can to help make your project as successful as it can be.can't wait to hear more!

What purpose did those 8 bolt removable trap doors on the side of the valve covers serve on the early g50? The later g50 covers dont have these

Interesting.

I'd be more impressed if it was a Twin Turbo G50. Something about turboing VH45's in cars that aren't Q's bugs the hell out of me. Probably jealousy that I can't do it in my Q.

Yes, I replaced the tensioners with the new updated ones. My parts guy at Infiniti told me the old ones had been discontinued because they tended to snap. The knock sensors are pretty old but I have a few spare ones laying around in case the ones I put on are not working (but that's not a big deal).

As you noticed, the lower intake runners are 1994 and the motor is 1991. The issue is twin intake ports mating with single runners but I'm actually running 94 heads. They were a perfect fit after the removal of a single dowel pin. I sent my 91 head out to get built over 7 months ago and the guy never got around to finishing the job. Every time I would call him it was a new story so I just took them as a loss and went out and got these heads. I really hope they flow better even though bigger runners don't always mean better flow.

Too bad the heads were never finished because I had a lot of nice stuff done to them like port and polish, oversized valves, inconel valves on the hot side, SS on the cold, twin spring with retainers and smaller valve stems. She was gonna purr at 9,000+

A G50? You mean a G56? I'm having enough trouble trying to shove a fat vh45 in a space barely big enough for a VQ.
