I am stuck between the vh45de and the vk56de i am planning on going with a single big turbo The thing is i want a manual trans also. So what engine do you guys think would be a better engine, Also i would like to get atleast 500 horsepower out of it.

500 flywheel hp at what rpm and psi of boost ---- super or turbocharged?

That extra liter makes it easier to get 100 HP at the same rpm.

I am looking at doing a single turbo and i like a kind of even power curve and i guess 500hp around 5-6000rpm i have herd thet on the vh you shouldnt run more than 8psi. Also i dont think i can get 500 rwhp on stock bottom end, can i?

basically on a VH45 what sets you back are the stock injecors and the compression ratio... You can run all kinds of boost on the stock internals if you can change the compression ratio, and the valve springs (they are a bit weak)

so is there a company that makes the springs or do i have to get custom ones, i found cp pistons on ebay but they are kinda spendy and i hadnt heard of them before, are thay a good brand?

I found a dyno run with the vh45de in a 240sx turbocharged sounds good

so the more i research what i have to do to put this engine in my truck and make the kind of power i want, the more i think it would be alot cheaper to put the vq35de in it and run a twin turbo kit. I really like the look of the vh45de and they sound good, but now im not sure what im going to do.

I had a VH45 with a T04z in my truck. Dynoed at 375 rwhp at 10psi but I was running avgas. A mate is running one in a his Titan offroad race truck and that has 480hp at all four wheels. That is sc and I think running 13psi.You can do whatever you want but if you want off the shelf cheap then use something else!

You'll need some sort of gearbox adapter if you want to run a manual gearbox. Custom engine mounts, custom sump, custom bonnet to make it fit, lots of rewiring, custom headers to fit between the chassis rails and the crossmember.

There isn't much that is easy about it (same as any VH/VK swap into a Z32)
