well ive searched alot and i guess i dont know what to type into the search bar....but im set on putting the vh45de from the q45 into my 240. im looking here now to aquire the engine swap. I know i would need custom mounts and a driveshaft. if anyone has any pics or info on this that would be killer. im an expierienced engine builder and an ase tech so im not new to this stuff. Its just ive never seen it personally. I think once i seen pics of it. Like would i be able to use the q45 wiring and ecu? would i also have any issues with my brake power booster and master cylinder? also my car is manual now. Id be going automatic with the swap and i would like to know how will i control the transmission. I know on auto v8 trans swaps like american car ppl do they shift the transmission manually. like they have 1,2,3 and Overdrive with is actually in the Drive position. could i do that with the q45 transmission or would i have to incorporate the transmission electronics too? any info would be golden so please help me on my LONG quest to make this work someday.

thanks

lewis

Lewis, I have a Q45 ECU and FULL wiring harness.. Any 90-95 ECU will work for your application, but i have a full harness..... shoot me an email!

I would assume that the stock 240 wiring for the auto would work.. however we are pretty sure than the VH45 is too wide for the 240

ok well ive found out some little info but no pictures except that motor swapped into a 300zx and i figure since the 300zx swap has been put into the 240 i figure it would fit too! im concerned about my brake booster and master cylinder as it might get in the way but maybe not if im lucky. I cant seem to find into if i can just use the stock q45 harness and ecu. Im going to keep the stock auto and yes i know the convertor is like 45 lbs but i dont care cause i just want a v8 240sx really and not anything super modded. Just going with a 100 shot and call it a day mostly. im sure i wont be able to swap over any of the auto trans electronics into the 240. my car is currently a manual. Can i just shift the transmission like a manual? Like put the shifter into 1st and just go into second then third and then drive...which i think would be considered overdrive? I dont know these transmissions much so any info on that would be awesome. please help me in my quest

I love the sound of a v8 but i love the japanese cars and i love RWD. And i like q45's but i dont want the car...just the swap into my 240 and i think this is my chance to shut some of those v8 redneck guys up around here with all nissan v8.

Yes you can use the factory wiring harness. Hell if you want nitrous, just get the JWT nitrous ECU... Im sure you could transfer the wiring.. what i would do is get a wrecked Q with a good engine and tranyn and swap all the wiring harnesses..

The dude with the VH45 in a Z32 is using the factory wiring harness and a stock ECU..
