will this adaptor plate fit the FS5R30A transmission for the Z31? I know that the 88-89 Z31 transmission is internally the same as the Z32TT transmission however I'm not sure if there is a bolt pattern difference between the VG30E/ET and the VG30DETT

do you figure these will be ready sometime soon or should I start thinking about cancelling and asking for a refund of my deposit so I can find some other option?

Sent all involved an email.Plates are now almost completely drilled, have got pic and will send out tonight.Just a few more holes and then wait for the bolts to arrive and they'll be ready to ship out.Once again sorry for the delay, missing the initial slot in the machine shop really messed things up.

Any word? Have the bolts come in? Are the adapters and spacers finished and just waiting for the bolts?

I have three cars to build and 1 is waiting on this adapter plate.

Thanks Chris

Think so, will try and get hold of the engineer today or tomorrow, tried him earlier but think he's on site somewhere today.Going into hospital on Thurs for a day or two so will try and get more info by then. They're certainly not far off as you could see from the pic.

G'Day all,

Just started looking at a project and this is just what I could use. Is this still going ahead? Any chance of getting in on it?

Gents, bolts arrived this morning, not sure what the delay was but they're here!Just have to get over to Leicster to pick them all up and package them now!!!!

Apsilon: This buy is finished but doing another batch soon. Email me and I'll give you the details. Price of Ali has gone mad at the minute so may be worth looking at doing them in steel, but up to you.

Would there be any advantage/disadvantage of using steel.... besides the added weight (which cant be that much)

Also, is the CNC machine program proprietary to you guys, or would you be willing to share (or sell) it.. Reason I ask is i have access to a CNC machining area at my school.

It's like John has dropped off the face of the earth. Last email I got from him was 9/25/2006. I sent my deposit on 6/12. What about you?

Same with me. I had no idea it would take this long. I'm glad I'm not in a hurry for it.

Yeah it is the same with me. My whole project has be put on hold because I am waiting for the plate. I need the transmission bolted up so I can mach up the engine in the chassis befoe it goes out for blasting, cage and body work. I was hopeing to have that all done by the end of summer. Now I have to other cars to build over the winter aswell as this one. Going to be a busy winter.

The only thing that would really matter would be the grade of steel used and some type of coating to prevent rust.

Nice work!

What method are you using to disengage the clutch ?

I am using the std corvette clutch fork, but have turned the ball thing around to make it a push style clutch instead of the original pull style. I also wanted to bring the slave cyl outside the bellhousing so I can play with different sized cyls to get the desired pressure and throw. Though what I have worked out on paper should be fine. I'm running a 1" bore down below and a 5/8 master cyl. That slot in the back of the bell is where the clutch fork sits, which is on the front of the t56 casing. A bit different to most. Also the bellhousing is only approx 120mm deep, so not much room inside. Once I had half finished it, i dummy assembled it with the triple plate clutch/flywheel etc and went "buggar I'm never fitting a fork in there", as I was going to mount its ball on the inside of the bellhousing. There was probably only 10-15mm from p-plate to rear of bell. However thats why I cut out that section in the rear flange, using the factory position, since the t56 already has this cutout. Also I wanted it to pop out the other side to decrease the hydraulic line, ie make it rhd. However running a bit more tubing is fine. I also didnt want to butcher the t56 in any way so if I break one I can bolt another one straight up. Or if i see something special come up I can sell it. No plans yet and will run it and will only change it if I begin blowing more than say 2 or 3.

I was told "2-3 weeks from material delivery" on June 29th. the materials were ordered July 3rd and he said he expected to have the materials delivered in "the next few days." July 22nd he said that the majority of work on the spacers had been completed. It is now October 23rd.He has pretty much strung us along with little excuses and delays for the past 3 months. At this point in time I'd consider myself ahead if I could even get my $350 back, and I'm really questioning sending the rest of the money. How many more delays and excuses from when we pay the remainder until they are shipped? am I the only one feeling this?

(I hope this isnt the case, but) any chance he's a scammer? Also I am looking at making a spacer plate for the vh41 and 45 to mate upto the z32 manual box. I am seeing how much local interest there is. Also if it works out I would be guessing anyone in the US would be getting a good deal with the dollare at the moment

Good luck with getting your money back. I sent him an email a few days ago and he said no to a refund unless he finds another buyer. I sent my money on 6/12 and here it is 10/23. He always says "few days, few days" but he means "you'll get it when you get it".

Ultrapulse if you want to give me the deposit and pay John the remainder you can just copy his and not have to pay the high R&D cost. If I have to end up buying it that's what I am doing.

yeah I already have an engineer friend with his own computerized cnc mill waiting on my copy to get in we should be able to reduce costs considerably. I wanna make a ton and sell em on ebay and make a few for my friends. VH is a good underrated cheap motor.

High R&D Cost ??

An adaptor plate is easy to design, and easy to make !

Gimme a VH45 engine & a Z32 gearbox and I'll have one designed up within a week, and made within the next week.

Cost depends on your definition and the quote that you are given. Maybe high costs wasn't right, but you will be able to avoid the r&d if you already have the actual product that they can convert and run on cad/cam.

Shaun, how thick would you make it. Reason i ask is that Slim's adapter plate is really thin (think 1-2-3mm)... I think itd be ebtter to make it thinner, rather than the thicker one that John was making...
