Hi guys, i have pulled the motor out of my Q45 as it was damaged when i bought it. After stripping it down i have found one of the bearings missing from #3 Big end. Now after taking the crank to a machine shop they have told me i need 10thou oversize mains bearings, (which i know where to find in NZ thanks to Mettler). Although they have said i need 20thou oversized big end bearings. I have had a look at the same company in NZ although they only list STD and 10thou oversized.

Does any one know whether its possible to get 20thou over big end bearings? Please someone say yes because i dont really want to have to buy another front cut/ engine and pull it down as well, just to change the timing guides!

or if someone wants to sell me a vh45 crank in good condition

I have two good 45 Cranks if you can't find 0.020" bearings and need one... make me an offer.

They do make .020 main bearings for the VH. They are in the US and may take a little while to get to you but its possible. Google Motor Parts Warehouse in Phoenix Arizona.

thanks for your help guys.

i had a look at those company's and they all list 10thou as the largest oversized bearing. Apparantly the machine shop doing my crank say they can repair it somehow. Although i will still need to use 10thou bearings. Ill see what they do

They offer bearings up to .75mm or .030 over and are available at Motor Parts Warehouse.
