I was cruising an undisclosed forum today and found an interesting little tidbit.

That is 3 dyno runs of a VK45 in an Infiniti FX45 when they were doing an ECU upgrade...

I have some charts of a VH45 with the stock auto (auto in the Q vs auto in the FX should be very fair), and the VH45 regularly puts out 230-240WHP without any mods...

Ive seen 270WHP with just ECU on a VH45, i have a bunch of dyno charts for VH45s so ill try and get those posted up.

VH45 FOR LIFE BABY!!!!

Wait a second. Isnt the FX45 supposed to make 315hp? So thats either drivetrain losses of 25% or the VK is overrated. Are you sure FX45 vs G50 is apples to apples?

I dont see why not... The only thing that Ive been able to come up with is the new SAE ratings. Maybe they didnt re-rate the Q45 since they killed it in 06... Nissan came out and told us how they made the VQ get more HP, but they didnt tell us about the VK.

ME thinks its marketing!

I actually think the VK puts out somewhere around 320HP which would make it roughly equivalent to the VH..

Isnt the FX45 AWD only ?? I think you can only get RWD on the FX35.

That would explain a LOT

Trust dynos? Why wouldnt I ?

Butt dyno isnt allowed.

I belive Nissan does engine dyno for there HP ratings. FX45 comes standard with AWD losses account for the difference big deal.

Obviously 265/20 tires and 4300 pounds take their toll and easily use up the extra 30 lb/ft in acceleration.

Thats what I thought. So if it was dyno'ed on a 4WD dyno, it would have much more loss than a RWD dyno.

Isn't the Attessa system in the FX's though? If so, it can send 100% of the power to the rear wheels (I'm not sure if its selectable or not but it'll do it). Granted it'll probably have slightly more losses than a standard rwd tranny but not like a constant awd tranny.

Only the same dynamometer, on the same fuel, in the same atmosphere.

Agreed! Dyno passes are only accurate if done under the same conditions on the same dyno. I have seen plenty of info where one dynojet produces difference results to another dynojet with the same setup.

especially considering the differing drivetrains and wheel and tire size...if you want to know for sure do some back to back runs with RWD cars on the same dyno, I can't imagine it would be that hard to find a Q45 and an M or Q vk45 owner in the same city.
