Hi,
I´m building a VH45 single turbo into my 27 Activator Boat. Currently I am at the point that I want to connect the power steering pump to the boats hydraulic system. A friend of mine did this with the steering pump of his 2JZ engine swap in his boat and it runned perfect.
So my problem is that I have obviously a HICAS pump at my engine and these 2 circuits. Does anyone have an idea how I could keep the pump? Is it possible to simply not connect the rear loop? I guess not because of pump lubrication. And to "loop" it would cause some useless energy losses..
Sorry when my english is not perfect.

Greets from germany!

:welcome: to NICO!

The usual way of dealing with the dual pump on a Q that's being converted from an active to standard suspension, was to loop that portion of the pump. I assume that was, as you suggest, because having that part of the pump without fluid would cause excessive noise or wear from that part of the pump. To avoid that, I'd think in terms of finding a standard power steering pump to replace your active pump. I'm not sure how much other stuff you'd have to swap, but I'm guessing the main pulley (harmonic balancer) would need to be replaced as well. If you haven't found it yet, the factory service manuals for the Q45 (called the Nissan President in some other markets) that had your engine are available at http://www.infinitiservicemanual.com

Good luck, and I hope you'll post pictures of your project!

Thanks for your answer. Then I will loop it first and when I found another pump I still can change it later.

Yeah, private messaging feature is locked to new members with less than 10 posts... to prevent spamming and just happens to inconvenience honest people too.
