I'm curious if anyone knows of an oilpan similar to the greddy oilpan for the SR thats available for the q45 athough I REALLY doubt there is. Anyways i've been tossing the idea of making my own around for a while but I'd like to see what others have to say first. I know i've seen some people make their own for putting the engine in a Z32. But i just want a shorter oil pan and i've got an extra pan to play with so i think i might give it a shot. As you can see mine hangs down quite a bit.. I've already destroyed an oil pan and dont want to do it again. I know i could make a bash bar. But thats only a partial solution to my problem.

Too easy.. I doubt you'll find something 'off the shelf'. I rotated my sump to make it a rear sump by cutting off the flange and re welding it. I controlled distortion by screwing it to a solid wood block. Because of where you'd be welding you should have no problems with distortion. I found that my little chinese mig welder set to a low setting did really well in limiting the heat input. TIG is also a good process to limit the heat but you need an operator who knows what he's doing. If you don't have access to welding gear - any panel should should be able to do the job for you.. and for cheaper than buying a new pan.

Just be aware tho that you'll have to shorten your oil pickup also - easy once again - chop n weld.

P.S. I checked mine with a dye penetrant to make sure it had no leaks (actually it had plenty but I soon fixed that!)

Yeah i didn't think it would be that hard of a thing to do and i've got PLENTY of 16 or 18 gauge metal lying around. I'm mostly worried about baffles. If i'm making it shorter and wider what needs to be done? I don't think its supposed to be just an empty bowl.

I think I'd make a shorter and wider pan with a mix of and

With the baffles on either side of the pickup.

Shorter and wider is what i'm planning on. That pan looks badass. Hope i can conjure up something just as nice.

Ok, so does anyone happen to have the dimensions or a cad drawing of the vh45's oil pan flange? I have an extra oil pan to take measurements off of but it's about 600 miles away from me... And i've searched the net for the past 3.5 hours and came up with nothing. The closest i got was the dimensions of the oil pan bolt haha. So can anyone help me out here? I'm trying to draw this up in SolidWorks.

Thanks
