Hey guys,

Ive seen in the diagrams there is a spacer for the flexplate. Could someone measure the spacer. This is part of the adapter plate thing, because if I can buy these spacers or have people use them, then I wont have to make one which will save money.

Thank you very much!

Sounds like I may just be able to use 2 of those bad boys stacked instead of making a spacer.

Keep in mind that when a NA Z32 5 speed is mated up to the VH that the flywheel needs to be spaced just to make the starter line up. I am in the process now and it seems that there is about 1/4 inch difference between the two. I'll post more info the farther I get but I'm sure someone on here knows for sure.

If your adapter plate is only going to be 1/4inch thick (must be steel I would assume), then forget spacing the flywheel. Use a Z32 NA flywheel bolted directly to the crank and the VH starter will work fine. The Z32 input shaft and pilot journal will work just fine sitting 1/4 further out.

The TT flywheel sits closer to the engine and has a bigger ring gear. I had to clearance the bellhousing to get the larger diameter to fit and am going to run my VH A/T "spacer" behind the flywheel to get a better shot at using the Z32 starter. I will have to shim that out as well.

If I would have known the differences in clutch's I would have just went with an NA.

This will probably work but will definately require some bellhousing machining to allow for starter snout clearance.

I think that's why most people just use the Z32 starter as it mounts to the trans and needs little to no modification to make it work. Some machining is needed of the VH block in the starter mount area for snout clearance but that's no big deal.

The ideal setup is a TT trans, clutch and starter with 1/4" adapter and 1/8-1/4" spacer. That factory A/T spacer is dead nuts flat and accurate and I wouldn't hesitate using it behind my flywheel. I believe it's machined and not stamped. Then the only mods needed are clearancing the block, and you have a stronger clutch setup with a lot more options for power holding clutches.
