here is the idea me and my brother came up with to adapt an RB25t gearbox to a VH45,basically mill 20mm off the front half of gearbox, use a 20mm thick piece of aliminium plate for adaptor, drill 16mm hole to place input shaft of the auto trans through and mark out holes, then the same for the RB25t gearbox,i had to mill some clearances on the side of the RB25t gearbox for the 14mm bolts and washers, hey presto this was very easy and the hardest part was maching out the final center for which i made up this real dodgy trepanning tool that wasnt pretty but did the job, also important was the now two pairs of dowels that i had to drill as well, note i have already machined up a steel flywheel that uses a standard single plate solid center clutch thats 9 1/2 inches ,this was all done on a tight budget-the plate cost about $200 NZD and about 4 hours of my own time.sorry the gearbox is actually a 300zx gearbox, identical internals to the RB25t box just that funny shifter crap on the back,we found these boxes to be very strong in standard form,my brother has one behind his 640hp MRK2 escort which managed a 9.68 on the quarter,oh this is mated to a FJ20,also using a single plate solid center clutch with a 3000 pound pressure plate.

i dont know the specifics but will look this weekend,i modified a small starter out of a van i think,i will find out which one, and just welded a plate to it so i could bolt it to the block, very tight down there next to the steering rack which is out of a S13 silvia-the spline sleeve is a little smaller to allow more clearance, over here in nz we have these cool places where you pull the parts off a wreck and pay a really cheap price for them-makes for good trial and error tests before you have payed anything. No matter what model of car it is they are all the same price.

the starter came out of a 1995 L300 petrol mitsi van, nice compact reduction drive starter,i cut the standard mountings off and made up a new ring to weld on the same pattern as the block,i had to strip the starter when i welded it,this turns over fine and matched the pitch of the ring gear-im only using a 9 1/2 inch clutch and the ring gear still lined up,ill try and get in there to take some pics

Car: lots of unique hot rods, and customs, with modern engines, and a good truck to pull the trailer.

Nice.

Lots of respect for the work, and especially for using what was around, and worked(van starter).
