Hello,

I have a problem with a VH41DE cas.It was damaged due transport and is almost impossible to find another one.
The disk is damaged and the disk reading sensor also. What i need from you guys is to open a vh45de cas or a vh41de y33 cas and let me know if the disk is the same (i am almost sure it is) and the code from the reading sensor is also the same RSB-14 1Y11.
If i know it is i can buy any vh45de cas (easy to find) and repair my cas.

Maybe there is a vh45de swap project going so someone can open the cas case to verify the code.
Please guys, i can`t finish the swap without this.

Hey Mate,

Hate to rain on your parade.

But I learnt when my CAS was damaged in transit, that the CAS on the JDM v1 VH41DE is unique to that engine. Apparently the optical pickup unit you had pictured is similar to some other cars...maybe a MX5/Miata if I remember correctly?

However the unit itself is unique and has a fall back magnetic pickup which is UNDERNEATH the optical pickup instead of on-top like the VH45's. Furthermore my research led me to believe that the US and JDM VH45's had a different electrical connector.

As my CAS encoder disc was also damaged I had to source a full replacement unit, which I got for $150AUD from www.sssautomotive.com.au.

If they can't help you out, I have a spare CAS to suit and we might be able to sort something out!

Good Luck!

I took a look at it, I was unable to get the housing apart. When I have time to disassemble it better I will do so and let you know what I find.

Thank you.

Maybe is there someone else who is in the middle of a conversion that can open the case of a cas ( 3 screws).

Hi Tarnafes,

Sorry for the late reply, SSS Automotive do have an email address, but they never responded to my emails, so maybe it would be better to stay up one night and skype them, they are helpful.

If I recall correctly the VH45 CAS Disc and encoder is different. The 1994 Q45 FSM Page EC-11 may be of some use to you.
I'm unable to help you at the moment as I'm away working from where my car and engines are stored.

However the part number for the Y32 VH41's CAS is 23731-1P100.
