Hi there guys, im just wondering as im looking at buying a VH41DE but it doesnt feature the 'spider' intake, it has like a single angle feed like a rb has? Any idea where this engine might be from and if there are any advantages or disadvantages?

:welcome: to NICO!

Does it look like the second picture in this auction?

If so, that's the VH41DE that the U.S. market got. The one with the spider plenum was a JDM deal only. As far as I know, the only spider plenum in the U.S. market came on the VH45DE on the 90-96 Q45.

I'm not 100% sure the spider plenum really has any major advantages, however one would think you might be able to mix and match parts and make the spider one work. You might see more advantages at higher HP, but stock vs stock I'm not sure you'll see a lot of difference.

I like the USDM 4.1 manifold more, with the plenum being 2 pieces it would be perfect for either a forward facing plenum, or a setup almost perfect for a roots style charger!
