Anyone here who has a Y32 VH41DE presently not mounted in a car, can you please do me a HUGE favour... I may be able to do one in return.

Can you please measure for me the stud spacing along the top and bottom row at the exhaust ports on each side... as well as vertical spacing.

Please take accurate measurements with a vernier caliper from 'inside to inside' and also 'outside to outside', of all the studs... this allows me to create an average of two dimensions.

Furthermore, please accurately measure the dimensions of the exhaust ports, and the spacing the same way I requested the others to be done.

It's important to take both measurements for each stud pair, as it's a more accurate means of getting exact hole centers.

If someone can provide me these dimensions, I'm going to have my exhaust flanges laser cut from 10mm stainless steel 304... and I can get an additional set of flanges cut for you if you need them.

Cheers whoever

Thanks wes, please do... though I have seen flanges for a VH45 and they are in fact different.

The 45 appears to have equal spacing between all the top bolts, and between all the bottom bolts... one lot being at one side of the exhaust port, and one lot being at the other side.

It is not so with a VH41, the studs swap sides for a couple of the ports, and it's damn annoying !

Damn what a nice set of headers they be !

As I suspected, the studs are in the same position relative to each exhaust port :~

Really needing someone with a Y32 VH41DE to measure it up for me... *looks at Bart*

Shaun,

I have a set of the VH41 manifolds in my garage. I will take some measurements and post them a bit later.

Here's a pic of the manifold for the VH41DE. As you can see, the stud holes are elongated.

If you want, I can make an imprint of the pattern on paper. That might be the more accurate.

Thanks sijoko, I have a pair of manifolds in my garage too... I don't want to use the measurements from them because they're inaccurate though.... I want to make my plates an exact fit & also have the ports line up perfectly.

Or do you think it's fine to use the factory manifolds as a basis from which to measure ?

I might just have to pull my motor out and measure it up I think, not much choice otherwise !

Hmm, strangely yours look like different manifolds too... I don't recall mine having elongated ports, nor being the same shape as those.

Since you have an extra set of manifolds, then I would use them for the flange measurement. Once you have the new flanges made, you can gasket match the flanges and the exhaust ports. Either way, the mounting holes on the flanges would have to be oversized or elongated to allow for expansion of the headers.

As far as the difference between the one I posted and yours, maybe it is due to the VH41 being available on different vehicles. I know the engine was available on the Cima and Leopard J. Ferie. Maybe other vehicles too. So that might account for the differences.

Just going by what I have read on various forums and articles, I think there's at least three different versions of the VH41DE, the one out of the JDM Y32 Cima being the best due to having the original strong block, spider manifold, metal timing chain guides, etc.

Feel free to correct me if there are more. I think you're right regarding the expansion of the exhausts, I'll incorporate the same size holes as factory into my design.

I don't think that you will have any problems using the pattern on the factory manifolds. Please post some pics when you get the flanges.

Certainly will post pics Just gotta draw up the other side, and perform some final clearance checks, then I'm getting em made up !

Something I did consider was the different material, I'm making em out of S/S T304, which may have a different thermal expansion %

Not too concerned however, I designed the right hand flange last night... this manifold is interesting though, it's got one slotted 9mm hole, a couple of 13mm holes, some 11mm holes, and a 9mm hole. Would love to know what Nissan were up to !

for mine i just took them an extractor and got the flanges laser cut perfectly matching. Then match ported the heads and the new plates
