Hi everyone, i have a '73 XA falcon sedan that ive put a vh41 into, ive removed the auto box and put a manual holden t5 behind it.

It has no clutch, just flexplate still.I have it running on a commodore v8 vn delco 808 computer system, changed the cam-angle sensor to a dizzy n coil. Custom plenum with 8 I.T.B's on top.

Its runs beautifully smooth, it just hits a limiter at 4000rpm...What could be the problem?

if you have any ideas on the computer system or possible mechanical causing this...its greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi LP,

I bet the Ford boys give you some grief about that right? Nice choice of engine tho.

I must admit to not being familiar with the Delco - is it an aftermarket ecu and how has it been set up?

Below is a list of things my brain tells me could be limiting the rpm:

* If its a oem ecu could it be running in limp mode (and therefore limiting rpm?). Possibly because the ecu is missing some form of input or is getting an incorrect signal? Can you get it to report error codes?

* Have you verified that the tacho is reading correct?

* Fuel pump pressure good?

* Is there something with the dizzy and coil which could be limiting the spark above 4000rpm

Are there any other symptoms? Backfire, engine knock etc?

Welcome to Nico

forgive my ignorance on this particular setup, but if it has no clutch, can I assume that is won't go in gear? If that's the case, a lot of times vehicles have neutral rev limiters that are different then the rev limiter when it is in gear.

Or, I could be WAY off base here due to my lack of knowledge on the transmission set up you are running.

Lack of 1 degree accurate cam angle pulse on VH45 limits rpm to 4,000, obvious 1 or 2 of the 3 required missing. What are OBDII codes?

That shouldn't matter when running the Delco assuming running standalone, which I'm assuming it is, why would he bother with a dizzy otherwise?.
