this is a spare engine I bought from Gumtree ( Australian version of craigslist). it also came with ARP head studs, all bottom end bearings and a full gasket kit.
I stripped the entire top end and (5) timing chains off today , then cleaned the deck with an oil stone . After Dinner I put the 12mm ARP head studs in. Next on the list , get heads serviced. Few pics also to show how over engineered these engines are , deep skirt block, cross bolted ( 6 bolt) mains with steel caps and girdle , sodium filled exhaust valves. Also has Duplex timing chain . Lots of these features were lost in the next version of the VH41, I assume as a cost cutting measure, for a Luxury car engine you sure can see the motor sport lineage .
