Okay I tried search an after spending over an hour scouring through posts I am still at a loss.

Has anyone come up with a viable manual box conversion solution for the VH41 engine. There is a few options for the VH45 but I wanted to turn the focus to the 41.

So post away pics prices availabilty etc all welcomed

Cheers

Jas

There are some differences between the 45's and 41's regarding U.S. and other countries. The US got the 45 and I believe down underwear got 41's although they have the same pattern IIRC. Also, the patterns changed sometime in 96-97 in the US I believe.

Australia never got any VH41's in cars sold by Nissan Aus. The only one we got was the 45 in the Q.

Yeah its wierd here

although we never got any of the cars directly here as imports by Nissan Motor Co we do import engine etc which are either JDM badged Nissan or USDM badged infiniti and not even sure if they are true USDM as they sold the infinti brand in Japan too didnt they or was it strictly a US sales pitch branding.

About the only one we dont have access to here is the VK56 as these are made in the US or at least assembled there for the Titan and Armarda's

So are you saying some of the year models may share the same gearbox stud pattern between the 41 and 45. That would be sweet

Infiniti BRAND is/was not sold in Japan. However the first generation Q45 (with the VH45DE) was sold in Japan as a Nissan model but with all Infiniti badging unchanged (although they were right-hand drive). So you could indeed get a JDM VH45 with an Infiniti logo on it.

Gday DoctorcheeWith your adapter plate gearbox conversion did you have to extend the ball pivot on your clutch fork? Due to the gear box being pushed back because of the adapter plate? Or did you use a spacer on your flywheel? The problem i have with my adapter plate conversion/VH41/RB gearbox, is the clutch fork is floppy and not hard against the pressure plate and ball pivot. In fact when i tried to bleed my clutch (brake fluid) the piston popped out of the clutch slave cylinder as the fork didnt butt up against it.Bart

Just extend your thrust bearing. Make a spacer sleeve for it.

Hey Bart, I'm not sure specifically how my thrust bearing was modified (I didn't do the mod to it), but mine has a steel spacer fitted between the fork pressure surfaces and the bearing, as shown in the attached pic... it seems to be just a piece of thick walled tube, or roundbar with a big hole through it. It doesn't come apart by hand, as though it's been press fitted on or something.

I think 6061 aluminium would work fine for this since the load goes down the length of it, it shouldn't break if you're generous with its thickness.

Keep us updated how you go
